Jewelry care tips with heirloom jewelry
How to take care of your (silver) heirloom jewelry?
Here are some tips what to do and don’ts with your jewelry…. to keep your jewelry beautifull for more than one lifetime.
Don’t
- Don’t store your silver jewelry in the bathroom. Because of the humidity in bathrooms it will tarnish or oxidise much faster. The best is to wear it to keep it beautiful. But i can imagine you can’t wear every jewel you own at the same time. So i recommend to keep you precious things in a jewel box, of even better in a airtight zip bag.
- Don’t do heavy exercises or building constructions while wearing your jewelry. It will get easilly scratched, or your engraving can fade out from the rubbing of hard materials to the silver or gold metal.
- Don’t wear your jewelry while showering, swimming, sleeping, fysical hard word, and be carefull with scouring pads on the prescious metal and around gemstones.
- Avoid long term contact with chlorine.
Do
- *Gold jewelry can be stored in a jewelry box, and just a wipe with a polish cloth will do.
- *If your silver jewelry did oxidise, you can wipe it thoroughly with the delivered jewel cloth. It will give back the polished look. Oxides will fade out trough rubbing with cloth.
- Clean your gold en silver jewelry frequently to keep your jewelry gorgeus and your gemstones sparkly. Jewelry can get dirty from dryed out soap, handlotion, skin flakes, etc. Clean your jewelry with warm water and soap, but rinse rinse thoroughly and wipe with a clean cloth or polish cloth.
